Why have Write Inspired CPD?
In the classroom there is a tension between the teaching of literacy and the creative need for language fluency.
Children need to be able to reproduce grammatically identified linguistic structures as well as be able to use language fluently to produce vibrant written assignments.
These tensions can produce unintended outcomes where the writing can become mechanistic, uninspired and dull.
Engagement can be hard to ignite and the purpose of writing is lost. This in turn makes the teaching of writing harder.
Children can fall into the trap of seeing writing as something that has to be done and simply use stock sentences to finish it.
Creative exploration is lost.
The Write Inspired inset attempts to redefine the space that children work in and the way they approach the writing process.
It is practical and thought provoking based on many years of classroom practice.
All the techniques shared are easy to apply to the curriculum and understands the need to include the teaching of grammar, punctuation and spelling. It aims to bring a balance between the rules of writing, and the ribbons. Briefly Write Inspired uses :

Attention and observation : the main skill of the inspired writer
Soundscapes and 3D models to inspire individual ideas
Unique graphic organisers to develop ideas and improve word acquisition
Movements to build a more energised and focussed writing environment
Agency : every child has something to express
Purpose : the children become inspired and sense the wonder of writing
Playfulness : exploration of language
Performance and book making : elevating the written word to something valuable
